Increasing public awareness and debate
regarding the plight and needs of refugees and survivors
of torture is an important aspect of Foundation House work,
helping to promote both the work of the organisation and the
campaign for the elimination of torture worldwide.
Before requesting a Foundation House speaker for your event,
please consider the topic/s you would like the speaker to
cover. Some possible examples are:
- a focus on the situations that create refugees and torture
- the refugee experience - flight and resettlement
- the challenges faced by recently arrived refugees
- the work of Foundation House in supporting survivors
to rebuild their lives in Australia
- information for professionals or volunteers working with
refugees
- the practical and ethical imperative for the total elimination
of torture.
While Foundation House endeavours to meet as many speaker
requests as possible, owing to staffing and other constraints,
it may not always be possible to provide a speaker for your
event.
